NECROMUNDA – Voted 4th Best Table

In the horrid decaying Underhive of Necromunda, gangs vie for notoriety. They fight each other to become the toughest gang in the ‘Hive.

A fast track to fame is to defeat one of the living legends stalking the Underhive. This is often easier said than done.

At Games 2008 many joined in the fun as two gangs battled to bring down Karloth Valois, master of the fearsome Plague Zombies. The Zombie Master teleported around the fantastic tower built by Brendan and James, sending Zombies against the gangs.

Necromunda is a futuristic skirmish game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Brendan Day and James Wright worked all year, continually adding interesting pieces to their display. See if you can work out what some of the items were in a former life.

WARHAMMER 40K

At Games 08 this year the Warhammer 40K display was a mighty clash between Space Orks and Eldar.

The Ork force was intimidating in size. Along with the usual rabble was a giant Squiggoth and some scratch built tanks; lending heavy support.

At the start of the battle the Orks surged forward, trying to reduce the time the sneaky Eldar had to react to them.

The Eldar terrain looked great. It was cleverly made from chair legs and golf tees.

Thanks to Ian Hemmings and helpers for this display.

NAPOLEONIC – BATTLE OF HAGELBERG

27th August 1813. By the Spring of 1813 most of Europe had risen against Napoleon. The allies aimed to defeat Napoleon’s subordinates while avoiding battle with him.

Oudinot was defeated at Gross Beeren, just south of Berlin, which left Girard isolated with his division in the midst of the allied army of the North. Hirschfeld received news that Girard’s division was in camps near Lubnitz and Hagelberg and marched to engage.

The scene was set with 12,500 Prussians and Russians advancing against 9,000 French and German allies.

The battle used Cold Steel version 7 rules developed by NWA members and 25mm figures painted by Andrew and Tim Bayly.

The Napoleonic section of NWA is large with several games usually running each meeting. Andrew, Tim, Jim and Robin put on this display game.

URBAN WARS

Urban Wars is a game of futuristic city combat. As a skirmish game, in Urban War the action is focussed around individual models.

Though organised into strike-teams, each model acts independently when it comes to moving, shooting or reacting to threats.

Combat is quick and lethal. Even the lowliest trooper can, with a slice of luck, take down a hero or veteran.

Travelling down from Bendigo, Gus showed the great range of figures available. Gus is a member of BADGA (Bendigo and District Gamers Association). Gus is also well known to many NWA members for joining in tournaments of Lord of the Rings.

Gus distributes the range of Urban Wars figures and books.
