Massive welcome to 2026. Now that the festive season is out of the way, it is time to ramp back into the New Year. We hope that you are all recharged, restocked (with more toys) and ready for a fun filled year of gaming.
2025 was a busy year and the committee is working on providing more opportunities for members to game, socialise and engage with the community to promote our hobby. Lots of things to cover off at the start of the year so please take the time to read to the bottom.

2026 Membership is now open/due. Click on this link or the image above to go to the membership application and payment form. Remember to select the relevant RSL membership you will receive as part of your NWA membership (if in doubt select social as we can amend it later). Pay is via PayPal or Credit Card and only takes a minute.

When you have gone to pay your membership you may have noticed that the Club Website has had a bit of a refresh. Key information about the club is now all either on or acccessed off the homepage, including events, the club calendar, membership form and contact us form, plus more.

One of the drivers of the refresh was to introduce the NWA GameFinder platform. “What the heck is the NWA GameFinder platform?” I hear you say. Over the last few years the committee has been struggling to address how to engage new people in the club and to get them playing games. We have lots of visitors to the club, new members joining but working out how to line up games is a source of frustration. For a club as active as ours it shouldn’t be a problem, but the number of games we all play, the switching out week to week and established playing groups within the club is daunting for new people. So NWA GameFinder is one of a few initiatives we will be rolling out in 2026.
The purpose of NWA Gamefinder is to:
- Create a centralised place for wargamers to register and let NWA members and the broader Melbourne gaming community what games they are wanting to play.
- The site already has a number of game groups set up (Ladders) that people can join. Members of these “Ladders” can challenge another member to play a game and this member will receive an email with the details. Games can be reported and the ladder will keep track of the number of games played.
- The members who register on the site, join “Ladders” and report their results. The more the Club demonstrates its activity to the broader community. This will hopefully make it easier for new members to get involved, whether it is playing games we commonly play or creating a new hub of activity within the club.
- The ladder system is not supposed to be a competition, however we hope that it will become a good measure of activity within the club and maybe a great way to reinstate some awards and recognition at the end of the year.
So please click the NWA Gamefinder link, follow the instructions on the page, get setup and start using the system. We already have a number of members onboard and can help you out if you get stuck.

Just in case you missed the AGM your 2026 Committee is:

It’s exciting to have four new members on this years committee, all of which bring a wealth of gaming experience and new perspectives which will benefit the club.
If you have any feedback or suggestions please let one of the committee know so we can see what is possible.

The club calendar has been updated for 2026 and can be accessed via this link. This calendar is a google calendar, so is easy to update as we add or update events across the year.
Ticketed events e.g NWA tournaments, Victorius etc… are accessed with the events section of the website and a shown on the websites sidebar as Upcoming Events. Club meetings are also displayed on the sidebar for the next 4 weeks.
Friday night meetings started on the 9th at Blackburn and Sat 17th is the first Croydon meeting. These are scheduled fortnightly until the end of the year.
The club has also scheduled regular meetings at Blackburn for the 3rd Sunday of each month. We use these days to run NWA events, but there is always the opportunity for general games on the day. If you have an event of activity you want to run on one of these Sundays please let the committee know.
The Saturday meeting for the 25th April falls on ANZAC Day so has been moved to the 2nd May.
As Victorius ’26 falls on a Saturday meeting there will be no meetings on the 15th August and 16th August.
