Sword & Spear v2.01 Army Lists

s s cover small

Download the free Army List generator in Excel for Sword & Spear, a game for Ancient and Medieval combat by Polkovnik Productions and published by Great Excape Games.

Updated to version 2 and enhanced by NWA member John Shaw.

You can also download the PDF army lists in case you want to print and do your lists by hand.

Update: Version 2.01 available 23/10/2016. Includes additional armies: Early Republican Rome, Arab Conquest and Early Scots. The automatic count of no. units has been changed to no. dice for convenience. This now takes account that Scythed Chariots do not generate action dice.

Just select the right army list and enter the number of units of each type that you want. The program automatically calculates the points value and the army value.

You can also select stratagems and it calculates the points correctly; even for the Stakes stratagem which depends on the number of Medium Foot Longbow and Longbow (R) units in the army.

The scouting points bonus, army morale and army demoralise level are all calculated automatically to make it easier for the player.

The cell for the number of units automatically changes to red when too few compulsory units or too many restricted units are chosen according to the standard rules.

Download the army lists and PDFs on this page, then check out the Sword and Spear official website at

Note that the Excel spreadsheets on the official website are only version 1 and a couple of the PDFs have errors, so use the ones below in preference.
